The Moldovan government has set the goal of achieving mutual recognition of electronic signatures with European Union member states, Economy Minister Eugen Osmochescu announced.
Osmochescu said the EVO application currently works only within the territory of the Republic of Moldova. However, once the authorities conclude the necessary agreements, Moldovan citizens living in the EU, including those with dual citizenship, will also be able to use Moldova’s electronic signature.
“We want to digitalize services and ensure mutual recognition of electronic signatures for our citizens in the European Union, whether they hold dual citizenship or only Moldovan citizenship. This will allow them to apply for certain permits and documents, including driving licenses,” the minister said.
He added that the authorities will continue to move forward quickly to facilitate interaction with the diaspora and encourage their return. These efforts include easier access to banking services, business registration, and other services in the Republic of Moldova.
In this context, Osmochescu also noted growing interest among professionals in the IT and HoReCA sectors who are considering returning to Moldova.
