Ukraine, Romania, and the Republic of Moldova officially launched the direct Kyiv–Bucharest train route on Friday, October 10. The new line, which passes through Moldovan territory, was inaugurated under the symbolic name “Friendship.”

Ukraine’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrii Sybiha said the route serves as “a bridge between people who share the same vision of a strong, peaceful, and united Europe.”

“Today, despite another night of massive Russian attacks against Ukraine, together with Oana Toiu and Mihai Popsoi, we marked an important step in strengthening the special partnership between Ukraine, Romania, and the Republic of Moldova — the direct Kyiv–Bucharest train has started operating,” Sybiha announced on social media.

He added that the new railway connection represents “more than just a transport route,” calling it “a clear expression of our shared determination to build new bridges of friendship and bring our peoples closer together.”

The train departs Kyiv at 06:30 and arrives at Bucharest North Station at 06:47 the next morning. In the opposite direction, it leaves Bucharest North at 19:10 and reaches Kyiv at 19:34 the following day.

A sleeping car ticket (four berths) costs €73.40.
