Prime Minister Dorin Recean responded after the General Prosecutor’s Office announced the suspension of Vladimir Plahotniuc’s extradition from Greece. Recean stated that authorities will investigate how the former Democratic Party leader managed to prevent his transfer to Moldova.

Recean emphasized that, although Plahotniuc may hope Moldova “will fall into the hands of Russia” after the elections and that he could return freely, state institutions must bring him to justice in handcuffs.

“We have seen the statement from the General Prosecutor’s Office regarding Plahotniuc’s extradition. We will investigate how the criminal managed to prevent it. Even if he hopes to return freely after the elections, institutions must bring him home in handcuffs. As citizens, we must ensure that justice reaches everyone and that this process does not stop,” Recean wrote.
