The Parliament of the Republic of Moldova convened six plenary sessions, during which deputies adopted 21 normative acts—ten laws and 11 decisions. During the same period, lawmakers approved 22 legislative initiatives in the first reading and registered another 47 draft laws in the legislative procedure.
Among the most important decisions adopted in the final reading is the law designating the Giurgiulesti International Free Port as a strategic port infrastructure object. Deputies also approved additional measures to support the business environment, regulations for real estate agents, and sanctions for the use of devices that violate copyright.
Parliament adopted a declaration condemning the actions of the Russian Federation that led to the contamination of the Dniester River. Lawmakers held hearings on this issue, attended by Environment Minister Gheorghe Hajder.
In the same context, Parliament declared a 60-day state of emergency in the energy sector following attacks on infrastructure in Ukraine. During the same plenary session, deputies rejected a simple motion concerning the policies of the Ministry of Defense of Moldova.
In the first reading, lawmakers examined draft laws aimed at supporting local production through short supply chains, regulating the stay of non-EU foreign nationals in the Republic of Moldova, gradually eliminating certain tax exemptions for economic agents on the left bank of the Dniester, and ensuring gender balance in the governing bodies of listed companies.
Before submitting the drafts for plenary vote, standing committees reviewed them in 49 meetings, including two held in the regions—Truseni and Drochia. Committees approved 36 reports, 14 co-reports, and 52 opinions.
Additionally, parliamentary committees organized 15 public consultations and seven public hearings on draft laws included in the legislative agenda.
