Moldovans returning home for Easter faced significantly higher travel costs, as airline ticket prices surged sharply in the days leading up to the holiday.
For instance, a flight from Milan to Chisinau on April 11 officially started at €88, but in reality, tickets were unavailable below €255. The most expensive options with layovers reached €477, ProTV reports.
Prices from other major European cities were even higher. Flights from Berlin ranged from just over €100 to €700, while tickets from Paris on Easter Day varied between €180 and nearly €500.
From London, the cheapest tickets cost slightly above €100, while the most expensive reached €400. Similar price ranges were recorded for flights departing from Dublin, with fares between €100 and €400.
Such increases are typical during major holidays, when demand for travel rises sharply, especially among members of the Moldovan diaspora returning home.
