At today’s meeting, ANRE approved new electricity tariffs for the two distributors, Premier Energy and FEE Nord, Bani.md reports.
Premier Energy consumers will now pay 4.10 lei/kWh, up from the previous rate of 2.34 lei. Although this represents a significant increase, it is lower than the 5.13 lei/kWh the distributor had requested.
Residents in northern Moldova will pay 4.68 lei/kWh for energy supplied by FEE Nord, compared to the current rate of 2.84 lei. Interestingly, the operator had requested a lower price of 4.53 lei/kWh, which is unusual in the tariff adjustment process.

The two operators sought these tariff hikes due to increased electricity purchases from Romania. These purchases became necessary after the Cuciurgan power plant stopped supplying electricity to Moldova on January 1, following the cessation of methane deliveries.
