Energocom announced that it will fully meet the electricity demand for January 7, as consumption will decrease by 17%.
According to Energocom, electricity consumption on the right bank of the Dniester will drop by 17% on Christmas Day (old-style calendar) compared to the previous day. As a result, they will require less imported electricity.
The company has secured sufficient capacity at the Romanian border to purchase either contracted electricity or energy available on the exchange.

On January 7, the energy supply will come from Chisinau and Bălți heating plants, local renewable energy sources, and imported electricity.
Since January 1, 2025, the right bank of the Dniester has stopped receiving electricity from the Kuchurgan power station after the Russian energy giant Gazprom ceased natural gas deliveries to Moldova. Under these circumstances, Moldova relies on domestic energy sources, including the heating plants in Chisinau and Balti, the Costesti hydroelectric plant, renewable sources, and imports from Romania. The latter includes bilateral contracts and purchases through the Romanian energy exchange managed by OPCOM.
