Energocom to Secure €400 Million Loan to Ensure Winter Energy Supplies

The Ministry of Energy announced that Energocom will secure a loan of up to €400 million to ensure the security of natural gas and electricity supplies during the cold season. On July 8, the Ministry of Finance and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) signed the state loan guarantee agreement.

The government will utilize the funds to implement the “Strengthening Moldova’s Energy Security” project, aiming to ensure an uninterrupted supply of natural gas and electricity to end consumers.

“Energocom has proven to be a reliable and responsible partner in securing gas deliveries to the population. With this financial instrument, we will strengthen the state’s ability to respond swiftly and effectively to potential crises and ensure uninterrupted energy delivery for citizens. Continuous energy supply is a strategic priority for Moldova—it’s essential to protect the population, especially the most vulnerable, and to maintain economic and social stability,” stated Minister of Energy Dorin Junghietu during the signing ceremony.

According to the ministry, the new loan, worth up to €400 million, is structured in three tranches totaling €300 million, along with a revolving credit facility over five years.

The funds will enable Energocom to make strategic purchases of natural gas and electricity to fulfill its public service obligations to end consumers, particularly in preparation for the 2025–2026 heating season.
