Energy Minister: Moldova Continues Transparent Gas Purchases

Energocom continues to purchase natural gas in full compliance with legal requirements and under transparent conditions, Energy Minister Dorin Junghietu confirmed amid ongoing public debate over this year’s acquisitions.

“In recent days, various insinuations have flooded the information space regarding this year’s gas procurement,” Junghietu said. “I want to reiterate: Energocom is buying gas transparently and by the law.”

He emphasized that the government will disclose the purchase prices only after the tender process concludes. Premature disclosure, he warned, could compromise Moldova’s competitive advantage and disrupt the fairness of ongoing bids.

“We will publish the prices only after finalizing all acquisitions to protect the integrity of the tender process and safeguard our negotiating position,” the minister said.

Junghietu emphasized that all tenders comply with the price ceiling set by the National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE). The procurement commission overseeing the process includes representatives from key institutions such as the National Anticorruption Centre (CNA), the Intelligence and Security Service (SIS), and civil society.

Energocom recently announced that it had secured the first volumes of gas for the 2025–2026 gas year through several tenders conducted in April and May, all under long-term contracts.
