Eugen Doga Pedestrian Street, located in central Chisinau, links some of the city’s most important landmarks, including the Metropolitan Cathedral Park “Nativity of the Lord.”
In 2015, the Chisinau Municipal Council renamed the street from Alexandru Diordita to Eugen Doga in honor of the Moldovan composer.
In 2017, the city installed a bronze sculpture of two lovers—a boy and a girl—on the street to celebrate the city’s anniversary. In 2021, authorities set up over 20 kiosks for handicrafts and souvenirs, enriching the pedestrian experience.

In 2023, the city renovated the central pavement with giant piano keys to make walking easier and added benches and other urban furniture to encourage visitors to linger. During the same project, the city unveiled a bronze bust shaped like a treble clef at the upper end of the street. Maestro Eugen Doga personally approved both the paving design and the bronze sculpture. The street lighting system was also modernized to enhance safety and ambiance.
Today, Eugen Doga Pedestrian Street has become a cultural landmark and a hub for recreational activities. It hosts concerts, festivals, and themed fairs each year. Cafes, restaurants, and shops along the street attract numerous visitors, making it a vibrant destination for both residents and tourists. Within just a few years of rehabilitation, the street has emerged as an ideal place for walks, leisure, and cultural engagement.
