European Commission findings: “Moldova has significantly reduced its energy dependence on Russia”

The European Union’s enlargement report shows that the Republic of Moldova has significantly reduced its energy dependence on Russia. According to the findings, Chisinau authorities have diversified gas and electricity supply routes.

As a result, Moldova now purchases more energy resources from Europe and the United States. At the same time, our country has aligned itself to implement the EU’s renewable energy directive, energy efficiency directive, and climate action regulation.

The report also praises the development of Moldova’s National Energy and Climate Plan and the establishment of the Fund for Energy Efficiency in the Residential Sector.

The European Commission recommends prioritizing integration and interconnection with EU energy systems. The Chisinau government is also suggested to organize the first tenders for large-scale investment from renewable sources and to speed up the energy efficiency project in buildings.
