Eurovision-2024: Moldova’s representative will perform in the first semi-final of the contest

Moldova’s representative at the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 will take to the stage in Malmo in the second part of the first semi-final on May 7. The draw took place on January 30.

In the first semi-final, along with Moldova, the representatives of Ukraine, Cyprus, Poland, Serbia, Lithuania, Croatia, Ireland, Slovenia, Iceland, Finland, Portugal, Luxembourg, Australia and Azerbaijan will perform.

The second semifinal, held on May 9, will feature representatives from Austria, Malta, Switzerland, Greece, Czech Republic, Albania, Denmark, Armenia, Israel, Estonia, Georgia, Netherlands, Norway, Latvia, San Marino and Belgium. Romania declined to participate in this year’s competition.

The draw also determined in which semifinal the Big Five countries (which automatically qualify for the final) and Sweden, the host country, would be eligible to vote. Viewers from Germany, Sweden, and the UK will vote in the first semi-final, while France, Italy, and Spain will vote in the second semi-final.

Moldova’s representative at Eurovision 2024 will be chosen during the national final on February 17. The evaluation will be made in the ratio of 50% from the jury and 50% from the audience. Following the live auditions, 11 contestants were selected. The final of the Eurovision 2024 song contest will be held on May 11.

Last year, Moldova was represented by Pasha Parfeni, who came 18th with the song Soarele şi Luna. Moldova’s best result at Eurovision was in 2017 when the group SunStroke Project took third place with the song “Hey Mamma.”
