Two wineries from the Republic of Moldova have achieved a gold medal and a silver medal respectively in the USA Wine Ratings competition, a professional wine contest. Fautor Winery and Purcari Winery stood out in the competition and managed to secure the first two positions.
The sixth edition of the USA Wine Ratings competition took place on July 23, 2023, and featured wines from 10 different countries, with the Republic of Moldova participating for the first time, as reported by finewine.md. The results were announced at the end of last week. The wines were tasted by a panel of 24 experts, including Masters of Wine and sommeliers from the most prominent wine houses in the USA.
The judges evaluated the wines based on three criteria:
- Wine quality;
- Price-quality ratio;
- Packaging quality (label design, packaging, etc.).
The red blend “Illustro Cabernet Sauvignon-Merlot 2016” from Fautor Winery was awarded the title of Best Wine by Country, with 93 points.
