The average electricity bill will increase by 240 lei monthly, reaching 560 lei, according to economic expert Veaceslav Ionita. This rise comes after tariffs were raised by 75%, significantly impacting household budgets.
Ionita estimates that Moldovans previously spent 4.4–4.5 billion lei annually on electricity. However, after the tariff increase, the total amount will rise by approximately 3 billion lei, reaching 7.5 billion lei, reports IPN. The expert also warns that this increase will push inflation to 10%.
Pensioners are expected to be the most affected, as their payments will be indexed below the inflation rate. Additionally, the increase will strongly impact citizens with fixed incomes.

“It is time to save electricity wherever possible and prepare for a year with financial challenges,” Ionita cautioned.
We remind you that the National Agency for Energy Regulation approved the tariff increase on Friday, January 3, excluding VAT. As a result, consumers served by Premier Energy will pay 4.10 lei/kWh, while residents in northern Moldova, supplied by FEE Nord, will pay 4.68 lei/kWh.
