Minister of Economy Dumitru Alaiba announced on Facebook that honey exports increased by 2.1 times. In the first half of 2023, Moldovan beekeepers exported 900 tons of honey, and by 2024, they increased this amount to approximately 1,900 tons.
This growth has brought in 82 million lei for beekeepers, highlighting the increasing international demand for Moldovan honey.
Data from the National Bureau of Statistics reveals that in 2022, honey producers exported 3,385 tons of honey, which is 5.8% less than the previous year. The main destinations were Italy with 872.5 tons, Romania with 587.5 tons, Slovakia with 384.6 tons, Germany with 301 tons, the Netherlands with 173.6 tons, and Serbia with 171.5 tons.

In 2022, our country had 202,200 beehives that produced 4,400 tons of honey. Each Moldovan consumed an average of 700 grams of honey per year.
