First in Moldova: Surgical interventions with ear implant

For the first time in the Republic of Moldova, at the “Timofei Moșneaga” Republican Hospital, three surgical interventions were performed using high-performance implantable devices with bone transmission and a middle ear implant. The interventions were performed by Professor Milan Profant from Bratislava, Slovakia assisted by the doctors and resident doctors of the hospital.

The patients were an almost 3-year-old child suffering from congenital atresia of the external auditory canal, a 48-year-old woman and a 62-year-old man.
All surgeries went without complications. The three interventions were transmitted live in the study room and commented by Professor Milan, so that the other colleagues could also follow the operations.

In about a month, the external part of the device will be installed and activated for each patient.

Thus, now local doctors will be able to perform the unfortunately mentioned cochlear implant interventions. By the end of 2022, several more surgeries with the use of high-performance implantable devices are coming.
