Five athletes will represent the Republic of Moldova at the 2026 Winter Olympic Games in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy. The national team includes Iulian Luchin, Alina Stremous, Pavel Magazeev, Maxim Makarov, and Elizaveta Hlusovici, IPN reports.

In cross-country skiing, Iulian Luchin, 21, and Elizaveta Hlusovici, 18, will make their Olympic debut. The 2026 edition will mark their first participation in the Winter Olympic Games.

Moldova will compete in biathlon with Alina Stremous, Pavel Magazeev, and Maxim Makarov, who have represented the national team since 2020. At the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, Alina Stremous recorded Moldova’s best result by finishing 10th in the women’s 7.5 km sprint. Pavel Magazeev finished 26th in the 20 km sprint, while Maxim Makarov placed 93rd in the 10 km sprint.

Organizers will host the 2026 Winter Olympic Games from February 6 to 22 and expect more than 3,500 athletes from 93 countries to compete.
