Former Moldovan Agriculture Ministry Official Charged With Influence Peddling Case Sent to Court

Moldova’s Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office has completed its criminal investigation and sent to court a case involving former State Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry Tatiana Nistorica, who is accused of influence peddling, IPN reports.

According to evidence gathered by the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office together with the National Anticorruption Center (NAC), the defendant allegedly received 70,000 lei from a representative of a business operator in exchange for influencing officials at the National Food Safety Agency.

The alleged purpose was to have the agency reinstate permission to import animal and poultry feed from Ukraine.

The defendant denies the accusations.

The case has been submitted for examination on the merits to the Chisinau Court, Buiucani branch.

Under Moldovan law, influence peddling is punishable by a fine ranging from 100,000 to 150,000 lei or imprisonment for up to six years.

Tatiana Nistorica was detained in early July 2026 in a corruption case investigated by the NAC and the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office. She was dismissed from her position on July 22, 2026.
