The Republic of Moldova will introduce a national program on artificial intelligence and data governance for 2026–2030.
The Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization of Moldova announced the launch of a draft government decision to develop this program.
Through this initiative, authorities aim to shift Moldova’s role on the technological map—from a passive consumer of solutions to a developer of its own AI products. At the same time, they plan to establish a strict and transparent data governance system aligned with the standards and values of the European Union.
The document will define the strategic vision for artificial intelligence development, as well as mechanisms for regulating and using data across various sectors of the economy and public administration.
The draft is currently in the public consultation stage, and authorities will accept feedback and proposals until May 12, 2026.
