The goal of the Moldovan government to join the European Union by 2030 is quite achievable, NATO Deputy Secretary General Mircea Geoana has said.
“Maia Sandu deserves all our appreciation. She is a remarkable leader in extremely difficult circumstances. Speaking in the parliament in Chisinau, Sandu said she aims for Moldova’s accession to the EU by 2030. This is achievable,” Geoana told reporters.
He also said that in the future, Moldovan citizens can get rid of the “geographical curse” and leave the spheres of foreign influence.
On December 24, Moldovan President Maia Sandu suggested that the country’s parliament consider holding a referendum on the country’s accession to the European Union. According to her, the country’s future lies in the “European family.” In addition, the head of state said that she intended to run for a second term in 2024.
