Japanese Ambassador Yoichiro Yamada received the “Order of Honour” from the Republic of Moldova. President Maia Sandu awarded him the distinction as a sign of gratitude for Japan’s support to our country.

The diplomat met with the head of state as he concluded his mandate. Maia Sandu expressed her appreciation for Japan’s support for the Republic of Moldova in recent years and highlighted the bilateral non-reimbursable financial assistance and loans totaling over 140 million dollars. According to the Presidency’s press service, this support boosted the agricultural sector, strengthened the medical system, and improved the educational environment for children and young people.

“Fourteen medical institutions across the country received high-performance devices essential for delivering quality medical services. These institutions include the Clinical Hospital for Traumatology and Orthopedics, the Municipal Clinical Hospital Gheorghe Paladi, the Republican Medical Diagnostic Center in Chisinau, and several health centers in Edinet, Leova, Căușeni, and other localities.

Additionally, the Japanese government allocated more than 20 million dollars to modernize agricultural machinery and equipment, which increased the sector’s competitiveness. Farmers also benefited from financial support to mitigate the effects of the 2022 drought,” Presidency representatives stated.

In the fields of education and social assistance, the Japanese government supported projects that expanded access to modern resources and safe learning conditions. It set up a digital library at the Moldova State University and renovated 12 kindergartens and gymnasiums in Șireți, Comrat, Orhei, Riscani, and other localities across the country.
