Hungary ranks 13th among Moldova’s global trade partners and 8th among EU member states, according to the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization.
In 2024, bilateral trade totaled $203.4 million, with Moldovan exports to Hungary reaching $33.4 million. Trade with Hungary accounts for 1.6% of Moldova’s total trade volume.
Moldova’s main exports to Hungary include:
- Chairs – $13 million
- Electrical transformers – $6.8 million
- Fruit and nut juices – $3.9 million (+257.9% vs. 2023)
- Apricots, cherries, peaches – (+322.6%)
- Grapes – (+234.7%)
Imports from Hungary reached $170 million, a 6.2% drop compared to 2023. Key imports include wires and cables, medicines, automobiles, monitors and projectors, and petroleum oils.

Data from the Public Services Agency shows that 37 Hungarian capital companies are registered in Moldova, with share capital investments of approximately 3.2 million lei. By investment volume, Hungary ranks 56th among foreign investors in the Republic of Moldova.
Among EU states, Romania remains Moldova’s largest trade partner, followed by Germany, Italy, Poland, the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, France, and Hungary.
