In March 2025, Iana Stantieru takes office as the Secretary General of the European Federation of UNESCO Clubs and Associations (EFUCA). Delegates elect her during the 5th EFUCA General Assembly, where they also select new Executive Council members for the next four years.
During the assembly, participants appointed Iana Stantieru Secretary General and elected Ioannis Maronitis from Greece as EFUCA President. They also designated Daniela Popescu from Romania as Honorary President of the organization.
Iana Stantieru led and founded “Femeile Moldovei” – the widest platform dedicated to empowering women in Moldova. She applies her extensive leadership experience and ongoing commitment to education and human rights, advancing these causes at the European level. Beyond her international professional activities, she actively promotes gender equality and supports rural women in Moldova, helping them become community leaders.
Her election as EFUCA Secretary-General acknowledges her dedication to fostering these values and strengthening intercultural and interinstitutional dialogue. The new EFUCA leadership, under Ioannis Maronitis as President and Daniela Popescu as Honorary President, aims to enhance international collaboration in implementing UNESCO programs.
