Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu is participating in the inaugural Conference of Speakers of Parliaments of European Union Candidate Countries, taking place in Belgrade.
The event brings together the heads of parliament from EU candidate countries to discuss the shared challenges and opportunities of the accession process, exchange experience and best practices, and strengthen interparliamentary cooperation in support of European integration.
The conference focuses on European integration in a changing geopolitical environment. Participants are discussing the role of national parliaments in advancing the reforms required for EU accession and are expected to lay the groundwork for a permanent platform for dialogue, coordination, and mutual support among the legislatures of candidate countries.
On the sidelines of the conference, Grosu is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with Ruslan Stefanchuk, Chairman of Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada, and Ana Brnabić, President of Serbia’s National Assembly.
The conference was organized at the initiative of Ana Brnabić and Ruslan Stefanchuk and marks the first event of its kind dedicated to strengthening cooperation among the parliaments of countries seeking membership in the European Union.
