In a recent working visit, Igor Grosu, the President of the Moldovan Parliament, engaged in constructive discussions with the leadership of the Belgian Parliament in Brussels. Notably, he met with Eliane Tillieux, the President of the Chamber of Representatives, and Stephanie D’Hose, the President of the Senate.
According to a post Grosu made on a social media platform, The discussions centered around the bilateral relations between the Republic of Moldova and the Kingdom of Belgium, with a focus on Moldova’s reform agenda, including the fulfillment of the nine recommendations from the European Council. The changes being implemented to meet European Union requirements are not only prerequisites for the accession process but also essential for the efficient functioning of the state. Moldova remains determined to do everything possible to improve the judiciary, develop the economy, and enhance the quality of life for its citizens.

In light of these objectives, both parties agreed to revitalize parliamentary dialogue at a high level, as well as establish communication between the presidents and members of specialized committees. The year 2023 holds great significance for Moldova’s European agenda, and the expertise of Belgium in various domains would be immensely valuable.
President Grosu expressed gratitude for the assistance provided by Belgium during the Ukrainian conflict. Additionally, he conveyed appreciation to the Belgian authorities for their intention to open an Embassy in Moldova by the end of the current year.
