Igor Munteanu: “Le Bridge” participated in the airport auction against its will to create the appearance of competition

“Le Bridge,” the second company to bid for commercial space at the airport, allegedly participated against its will to create the appearance of competition. The statement was made by CUB leader Igor Munteanu during the show „In Context” from Moldova 1. Munteanu argues that the appearance of this company in the competition on the last day of the tender, at a time when there was initially only one participant, is suspicious, to say the least.

According to the politician, “Le Bridge” was previously involved in a scandal related to the privatization of SA “TUTUN-CTC,” according to material published by  ziua.md.

“From my experience as chairman of the parliamentary inquiry committee, “Le Bridge” participated in the privatization of a major target – “TUTUN-CTC”. When we started our investigation into this matter, the manager or owner of the company in question, “Le Bridge”, at some point sent a letter on behalf of the Prime Minister and our committee of inquiry, in which he said that you know, I’m ready to return this TUTUN-CTC asset because I, in fact, privatized it against my will and it sounded very strange this position in 2019 when we were carrying out the investigation, and obviously this by analogy may suggest that this time too, Le Bridge participated against its will, somehow trying to create the appearance of competition,” the politician said.

Munteanu suggested that some interest groups might be involved in trying to disrupt the tender, but stressed that this should not justify the authorities tampering with these processes.

“The state must be flexible and at the same time strategically oriented to represent citizens in the desire to maximize profits from the properties it owns. I believe that a managerial revolution is needed so that Moldova does not lag in Europe, not only in terms of the population’s income but also in the way we manage the properties that belong to us,” Munteanu said.
