The Foreign and Community Affairs Committee of the Italian Chamber of Deputies adopted two resolutions on September 7th, supporting the European path of the Republic of Moldova.
The documents state that Italian authorities commit to promoting the accession of the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine to the European Union in all European institutions and to assist the candidate countries in achieving the necessary standards required by the European Union more rapidly.
“We welcome the two resolutions adopted by the Italian Parliament in support of Moldova’s accession to the European Union. We appreciate Italy’s support for our journey into the European Union and the commitment to strengthened bilateral relations. Grazie, Italy!” reacted President Maia Sandu on Twitter.
At the same time, Moldova’s Foreign Minister, Nicu Popescu, also stated on Twitter that the step taken by the Italian Parliament “demonstrates a strong sign of solidarity and friendship.”
