Japan extends a helping hand to Moldova with $17 million assistance for World Bank Debt Payment

Nicu Popescu, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova, held a meeting with the Ambassador of Japan, Yamada Yoichiro, to discuss various topics related to the current agenda of Moldovan-Japanese relations. The meeting highlighted the increasing cooperation between the two countries in politics, trade, investment, and assistance projects.

During the meeting, Ambassador Yamada announced a new tranche of assistance to Moldova amounting to $17 million. This assistance is aimed at covering the interest payment to the World Bank.

Minister Popescu expressed his gratitude for Japan’s continued support and the substantial portfolio of assistance provided to Moldova. He emphasized the importance of this support in the face of the security challenges that the country is currently experiencing.

Both officials expressed their willingness to contribute to the advancement of the Moldovan-Japanese partnership and the diversification of mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries. The meeting concluded with a positive outlook for the future of Moldova-Japan relations.
