The Republic of Moldova will receive a grant from the Government of Japan to implement the ‘Supplying Farmers with Fertilizers’ project. At the meeting on Thursday 1 February, Parliament ratified an agreement that provides non-reimbursable financial assistance of 300 million Japanese yen, equivalent to approximately €1.9 million.
According to the document, the money must be transferred to the Republic of Moldova by 31st March 2024.
According to Parliament representatives, the grant agreement aims to facilitate access to affordable financial resources for small and medium-sized farmers to purchase fertilizers, seeds, pesticides, and other necessary supplies. Farmers will have access to fertilizers at a reduced price, exempt from import value-added tax, and with the option of paying in installments without a pledge.
The Agency for Development and Modernisation of Agriculture will be responsible for implementing the project.
