Former Democratic Party leader Vladimir Plahotniuc appeared in court today to testify in the Bank Fraud case. Court officials installed a board in the courtroom for the hearing.
“I believe that the government at that time deliberately included me in this case to divert attention from its failures,” he said at the start of his statement.
Vladimir Plahotniuc argued that judges face blackmail to carry out political orders. “I state that under political pressure they committed certain violations in my case, when they gave me a short time to review 100 volumes. I consider my trial flawed from the very beginning. In this process, I have to prove my innocence. In the entire case file, I found that for some of the charges no concrete accusations were brought,” he said.
