President Maia Sandu, together with Her Majesty Margareta, Custodian of the Romanian Crown, attended the celebration marking 80 years since the founding of the “Nicolae Testemitanu” State University of Medicine and Pharmacy.
The president congratulated the doctors, professors, and researchers on the university’s anniversary, emphasizing its vital mission of training professionals who save lives.
Maia Sandu highlighted the essential role of the medical community in shaping a society that values and takes responsibility for its health. She also expressed gratitude to the university staff for their dedication and commitment.
“The medical community has the mission to help people care for their health throughout life, prevent diseases, and adopt a balanced lifestyle. You strengthen trust in science — because a society is healthy only when it believes in science.
I thank you for every act of care, every student you have guided, and every patient you have helped. Each of you has contributed to building the foundation of this institution and saving countless lives. You have shown that excellence is achieved through passion, hard work, and vision,” said President Sandu.
Alongside the president and the royal representative, several cabinet members also attended the anniversary ceremony.
