Moldovan President Maia Sandu has signed two decrees awarding the country’s “Order of Honour” to honorary consuls of the Republic of Moldova in recognition of their contributions to promoting the country abroad.
The distinction was awarded to Asser Mortensen, Moldova’s honorary consul in the Kingdom of Denmark, for his contribution to the development of Moldovan-Danish economic and trade relations.
According to the presidential decree, Mortensen was also recognized for his support for civil society, educational projects and Moldovan citizens living in Denmark, as well as for promoting Moldova in the Nordic region.
A second “Order of Honour” was awarded to Flavio Mendes Bitelman, Moldova’s honorary consul in the Federative Republic of Brazil.
The presidential decree cites Bitelman’s contribution to developing friendly relations and cooperation between Moldova and Brazil, as well as promoting Moldova’s economic, cultural and tourism potential.
The “Order of Honour” is one of Moldova’s state distinctions. It is awarded, among other reasons, for outstanding contributions to developing friendly relations and cooperation with other states and for efforts to enhance Moldova’s international standing.
