Moldovan President Maia Sandu has condemned the Russian attacks on Ukraine overnight, which resulted in civilian casualties and material damage.
“We strongly condemn last night’s Russian attacks on Ukraine, which killed civilians and damaged homes, a school and a hospital. Our airspace was violated again, and a drone reached the territory of the Republic of Moldova,” Maia Sandu wrote in a post on X.
The Moldovan president said Russia must face greater international pressure to stop its attacks against Ukraine.
Meanwhile, two drone-related incidents were reported near Moldova’s state border following Russia’s overnight attacks on port infrastructure in the Reni area of Ukraine.
The first incident occurred on August 20 at around 3:45 a.m., when a patrol from the Giurgiulesti Border Police Sector, stationed at the Giurgiulesti-Reni Border Crossing, spotted an explosion in a truck parking area located on Ukrainian territory, approximately 150 meters from the border crossing.
The incident occurred amid a Russian drone attack targeting infrastructure in southern Ukraine, close to Moldova’s border.
