Maia Sandu confirmed support for the investigation of Russian crimes in Ukraine

On Tuesday, May 9, the President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, together with representatives of several European states and institutions, took part in the online summit of the core group on the establishment of the Special Tribunal for the Crimes of Russian Aggression in Ukraine.

In her address, the head of state stressed that the crimes committed by Russia, attacks on civilians, violence, war crimes, and crimes against humanity will not go unpunished.

She also added that Moldova supports the Peace Formula proposed by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

“The Republic of Moldova will continue to support Ukraine in its fight against aggressors and will stand up for peace, security, and democracy in the world”.

The summit of member states of the core group on the establishment of the Special Tribunal for Crimes and Aggression against Ukraine was organized by Ukraine, the participants were officials of states that are actively involved in the creation of a tribunal to consider the crime of aggression in the context of the war launched by the Russian Federation against Ukraine.

On the occasion of the summit, a Joint Declaration was adopted, which reaffirms the commitment of the participating states to the importance of achieving the goal of bringing to international justice those responsible for planning and committing the crime of aggression against Ukraine.
