Maia Sandu participated in the 21st edition of the GLOBSEC Forum 2026 in Prague on May 21, where she received the GLOBSEC Forum Award together with Roberta Metsola.

Organizers held the forum under the patronage of Petr Pavel and brought together more than 1,800 participants from nearly 80 countries. Every year, the event gathers heads of state, policymakers, and business leaders to discuss major geopolitical and security challenges.

Maia Sandu dedicated the distinction to the citizens of the Republic of Moldova.

“To those who for three decades fought for democracy, to those who, through their vote, removed autocrats and oligarchs from power. And to those who voted for Europe despite Russian pressure and threats — to those who refused to be bought or intimidated. And to those who go to work every day. I am here because of them. It is an honor to represent them,” the Presidency stated.

On the sidelines of the forum, Maia Sandu met with her Czech counterpart, Petr Pavel. The two leaders reaffirmed the strong relationship between Moldova and the Czech Republic, focusing on economic cooperation, increasing trade exchanges, and collaboration in security and defense.

The Moldovan president also participated in a panel dedicated to Moldova, where she discussed the country’s experience in countering foreign interference and hybrid threats. According to the Presidency, Sandu warned that external interference in Moldova’s elections should serve as a warning for all European countries, especially those preparing for elections in 2027.
