Maia Sandu wants the Republic of Moldova to have a normal relationship with Moscow. However, the head of state says the Russian administration is unlikely to change its attitude toward our country.

The President reiterates that the Kremlin interferes in Moldova’s internal affairs. According to Maia Sandu, Russia shows the same attitude toward other free and sovereign states as well.

‘I do not believe Moscow will change its attitude toward the Republic of Moldova. Unfortunately, we want to have a normal relationship and to know that the Kremlin does not interfere in our internal affairs. But, as we have seen in recent years, including after the elections, the Kremlin has not changed its attitude. And it’s not just about the Kremlin’s attitude toward the Republic of Moldova.

We see the Kremlin showing the same attitude toward many other independent, free, sovereign states. This is why, knowing that the risks are not disappearing, (…) we must stay even more vigilant and better prepared,’ said the head of state.”

On December 2, the National Security Council discussed the democratic resilience plan. The document includes measures on information security, cybersecurity, and combating illegal political financing. Maia Sandu announced after the meeting that some of these measures will remain secret.
