Maia Sandu, the President of the Republic of Moldova, visited Kyiv this morning at the invitation of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
“I am traveling to Kyiv with the message that Moldova continues to support Ukraine. For almost three years, Ukrainians have defended their country, families, and children’s future. Their courage also protects peace in Moldova, and we are deeply grateful. We will discuss security, trade, roads, bridges, and ways to help each other on the path to European integration. Moldova will remain a good neighbor and friend of Ukraine,” Maia Sandu stated in a video recorded on the train to Kyiv and shared on her Facebook page.
In Kyiv, she will meet with President Volodymyr Zelensky, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, and Parliament Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk. The discussions will focus on strengthening bilateral cooperation, improving infrastructure connections, expanding trade, advancing EU accession efforts, ensuring regional security, and addressing shared challenges.

One key agenda item involves the energy crisis caused by Russia, which has driven up energy prices on the right bank of the Dniester, left residents on the left bank without heat and electricity, and threatens regional stability.
Maia Sandu will also discuss the issue at the New Europe Center in Kyiv, a foreign and security policy research institute.
This visit underscores the close ties between Moldova and Ukraine, their shared commitment to peace and security, and their solidarity in facing regional challenges.
