Maia Sandu Meets with Head of France’s National Financial Prosecutor’s Office in Chișinău

The development of the Republic of Moldova relies on the speed and quality with which high-level corruption and tax fraud cases, especially those that have harmed the state and its citizens, are addressed.

This statement was made by the head of state, Maia Sandu, during a meeting with the Chief Prosecutor of France’s National Financial Prosecutor’s Office (PNF), Jean-François Bohnert, who is on a visit to Chișinău. The visit of the mission led by the French official to our country will enhance institutional and operational cooperation between the PNF and our relevant authorities, Maia Sandu specified.

“The adoption of good practices from the French institution in the field of criminal prosecution will help Moldovan prosecutors be more effective in resolving cases of high-level corruption, money laundering, and complex tax evasion. The head of state appreciated the openness of the French authorities to assist us in advancing cases of recovering criminal assets for Moldova,” the Presidential statement further noted.

France’s National Financial Prosecutor’s Office has national jurisdiction over the most complex and serious economic and financial crimes.
