Maia Sandu stated that Russia is endangering the lives of citizens of the Republic of Moldova after authorities found a drone in Tudora. The president delivered the message on social media in English.
She noted that this was not the first such incident and accused Russia of repeatedly violating the sovereignty of the Republic of Moldova.
Maia Sandu said, “A Russian drone found today in the Moldovan village of Tudora was assessed as carrying explosives. It is a serious violation of our airspace and a threat to our citizens. Russia repeatedly violates our sovereignty and endangers the lives of our people.”
An aerial object was observed overnight from Monday to Tuesday in the southern part of the country. It flew at an altitude of about 150 meters toward the locality of Caplani. Authorities later identified fragments containing explosives in Tudora, and bomb disposal experts neutralized them in a controlled explosion.
