Maia Sandu will visit Germany. She will receive the Robert Blum Prize for Democracy

President Maia Sandu will pay a working visit to Germany on May 17-18, where she will receive an award from the German city of Leipzig. The presidential administration reported it.

Maia Sandu will meet with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Berlin. She will also meet with Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Bundestag Speaker Berbel Bas. The head of state intends to discuss measures to back Moldova’s economy, the process of Moldova’s accession to the EU, and cooperation in the field of regional stability.

Sandu will also travel to Leipzig, where she will receive the Robert Blum Prize for Democracy. The prize money is €25 thousand, which the president will send to a charity organization.

Also, during his visit to Germany, the head of state will meet Moldovan communities in Berlin and Frankfurt am Main.

At the beginning of 2024, Maia Sandu received the “Timisoara for European Values” award, accompanied by 30,000 euros. She donated the sum to the “Prietena Mea” Public Association. It represents the interests of children with Down syndrome in Moldova.
