“The Republic of Moldova belongs in the European Union. Belgium firmly supports Moldova’s European aspirations and recognizes the bold reforms it has implemented—even under difficult circumstances,” declared Maxime Prevot, Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Affairs, and Development Cooperation of the Kingdom of Belgium, after meeting with Moldovan Foreign Minister Mihai Popsoi.
Maxime Prevot praised Moldova’s resilience in the face of hybrid threats and reaffirmed that Brussels stands by Moldova as a reliable and committed partner.
During their meeting, the two ministers explored ways to strengthen Moldovan-Belgian bilateral relations, focusing on expanding economic ties and sectoral cooperation to benefit citizens in both countries. They also discussed Moldova’s path to European integration.

“We thanked Belgium for its active support in our EU accession process, especially during its Presidency of the EU Council, when Moldova officially launched negotiations,” said Mihai Popsoi.
At the close of the meeting, Minister Popsoi invited Maxime Prevot to pay an official visit to the Republic of Moldova.
