Republic of Moldova maintains good relations with Georgia and shares common aspirations regarding European integration, according to Deputy Prime Minister and head of diplomacy Mihai Popsoi.

Speaking after a government meeting, Popsoi said Moldova respects the Georgian people and emphasized that political statements do not affect bilateral relations between Chisinau and Tbilisi.

“We have a good relationship. We have respect for the Georgian people. We share common aspirations. Both the citizens of the Republic of Moldova and those of Georgia want a peaceful European future,” he stated.

He added that recent political developments and statements would not significantly impact the relationship between the two countries.

Recently, opposition MPs, including Vasile Costiuc and Igor Dodon, visited Tbilisi and held meetings with representatives of Georgia’s leadership.

Speaker of Parliament Igor Grosu criticized the visit, stating that Georgia is currently governed by what he described as an oligarchic regime. He also refused a gift sent by the Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, suggesting it could have originated from Ilan Sor and advising the opposition to consume it themselves.
