The leadership of the Republic of Moldova paid their final tribute to Gheorghe Urschi. President Maia Sandu, Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu, and Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu laid flowers at the actor’s coffin.

The officials attended the farewell ceremony held at the National Palace Nicolae Sulac. During the event, Maia Sandu delivered a speech highlighting Urschi’s contribution to the national revival movement.

“Gheorghe Urschi went beyond the world of theater and cinema. He entered every home in Moldova. When we face difficulties, we remember a scene, a line, a phrase. Urschi’s irony revealed truths without dividing us. Master Urschi provided a kind of national therapy through laughter,” the president said.

Gheorghe Urschi passed away on April 13 after being hospitalized in serious condition. The day of his funeral was declared a national day of mourning.
