Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popsoi stated that over the past two years, the Foreign Ministry focused on securing support from European Union member states for Moldova’s European course, backing reforms, and promoting economic diplomacy. He presented this report on the Foreign Ministry’s activity Today at the Parliamentary Commission for Foreign Policy and European Integration.
The document outlines the Foreign Ministry’s actions over the last two years and sets priorities for the next period to enhance the efficiency of the diplomatic service.
Mihai Popsoi highlighted that the Foreign Ministry achieved significant results, including consolidating Moldova’s image as a credible, stable, and predictable player on the international stage.
“It led to unprecedented support from external partners and culminated in the historic decision to start accession negotiations with the European Union on June 25, 2024. We made outstanding diplomatic efforts to strengthen our strategic partnership with Romania, show multidimensional solidarity with Ukraine, and support its efforts to tackle the challenges of ongoing Russian aggression. We also significantly strengthened our strategic partnerships with the USA, Canada, and Great Britain,” Mihai Popsoi said.

The Deputy Prime Minister also listed deepening international relations to increase development assistance, strengthening economic diplomacy, and promoting agreements that benefit the diaspora as priorities for the coming period.
“We promote a proactive, anti-cryptic, consistent, and predictable foreign policy focused on concrete results. Thus, we pay special attention to the professionalization of diplomatic staff and the expansion of diplomatic presence in countries where the Moldovan citizens from the diaspora have grown exponentially,” Mihai Popsoi said.
Additionally, the Foreign Ministry’s two strategic priorities, proposed as part of the government’s state policy for 2025-2027, focus on expanding Moldova’s diplomatic presence. These priorities include opening new embassies in Egypt and Kazakhstan and establishing additional consulates in the USA, Germany, and Canada.
