Mihai Popsoi will pay a working visit on March 17, 2026, to Trieste. The official will participate in a high-level conference marking the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Executive Secretariat of the Central European Initiative (CEI).

The event, organized at the initiative of Italy—the host country of the CEI Executive Secretariat—and Romania, which holds the rotating CEI Presidency in 2026, will bring together foreign ministers as well as representatives of parliaments, chambers of commerce, and think tanks from member states.

During the visit, Popsoi will also take part in the panel discussion titled “Promoting the CEI Spirit: Closer Together in the Region, Stronger in Europe.” He will join Oana Toiu and Andrii Sybiha, along with counterparts from Central and Southeast European countries: Marko Djuric, Tanja Fajon, Elmedin Konakovic, and Gordan Grlic-Radman.

The ministers will discuss regional cooperation priorities, the role of the Central European Initiative in supporting the European integration of candidate countries, and ways to promote economic and social development within the broader process of European reunification.

During the visit, Popsoi will also meet with Antonio Tajani. Their talks will focus on strengthening Moldovan-Italian dialogue, expanding bilateral cooperation, and Italy’s support for the European path of the Republic of Moldova.

In addition, the Moldovan foreign minister will participate in a plenary session dedicated to the India–Middle East–Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC). The session will examine the advantages and development prospects of the project, as well as its role in strengthening trade and infrastructure connections by expanding logistics routes and facilitating trade flows.
