Mihai Popsoi met with Andrii Sybiha: “Ukraine stands with Moldova in combating Russian disinformation”

Vice Prime Minister Mihai Popsoi met today, September 19, with Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, who is visiting our country. The agenda included discussions on the progress and prospects of bilateral relations, regional security developments, and the significant advancements both states have made on the European dimension, notably through the launch of EU accession negotiations in June.

In their joint press statement, Mihai Popsoi reaffirmed Moldova’s strong support for Ukraine’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, unity, and independence within its internationally recognized borders.

“Our country firmly condemns Russia’s unprovoked and illegal military aggression against Ukraine, an aggression associated with numerous war crimes, loss of lives, territorial occupation, and massive destruction of infrastructure. Since the beginning of the war, our country has stood by Ukraine and supported it in all international forums and platforms. In this context, I want to reconfirm our full support for the ‘Peace Formula’ proposed by President Volodymyr Zelensky, which is the only path to a comprehensive, just, and lasting peace,” Popsoi stated.

The Moldovan official also reiterated Moldova’s firm commitment to continue assisting the more than 125,000 Ukrainian refugees in the country through providing social support, schooling for children, employment opportunities, and humanitarian aid.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the two ministers committed to acting in a coordinated manner, with resolve and determination, to advance on the European path.

“We are pleased that the Republic of Moldova stands with us on this journey because the European Union means prosperity for citizens, development opportunities for the economy, and collaboration prospects for neighbors. The key is to believe in success and not let Russia divert us from this path,” declared Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha.
