The Environment Ministry is conducting a new mission on air quality from November 18 to 22, with support from a team of Finnish experts. The mission aims to enhance air quality monitoring legislation and infrastructure to meet European Union standards.
According to the Environment Ministry, European experts and local specialists are collaborating to analyze national air quality legislation and adjust it to EU requirements. The mission’s agenda includes site visits to air quality monitoring stations in Chisinau, Mateuti, and Leova to assess the existing equipment. Based on these evaluations, the team will provide recommendations and develop an action plan to modernize the legal framework.
“Beyond legislative improvements, the experts will conduct practical training sessions for local specialists, focusing on data quality assurance, equipment maintenance, and calibration. Additionally, they will evaluate existing environmental data and propose solutions to integrate it into a modern system aligned with European standards,” stated the ministry.

This initiative supports Moldova’s efforts to achieve environmental goals and align with EU standards, contributing to improved air quality and better public health. The mission is part of the EU-funded twinning project Quality of Air and Environment.
