During an official visit to Greece, Moldovan Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu emphasized the strong partnership between Moldova and Greece, highlighting their shared commitment to peace, security, and a better future for their citizens. Grosu visited Greece at the invitation of his Greek counterpart, Nikitas Michail Kaklamanis.
The two officials discussed Greeceās continued support for Moldova across key sectors, including energy, tourism, and legislative reform. Notably, they highlighted the Twinning project, which, over the next two years, will assist the Moldovan Parliament in aligning national legislation with European law.
āFor nearly 33 years, Moldova and Greece have developed a strong bilateral relationship. Today, weāre seeing concrete results: the Greek Embassy opened in Chisinau in 2024; multiple direct flights to Athens are already operational; and this summer, new routes to Heraklion and Thessaloniki will launch. Long-awaited agreements are finally being signed, including those covering social security and the mutual recognition of driving licenses,ā Grosu said.

He also noted the increasing popularity of Moldovan products in Greece. āOur exports to Greece have doubled in the last two years, and Greece has become one of our top 20 commercial partners.ā
The discussions also covered Moldovaās internal developments.
āWe spoke about our challenges but also reaffirmed our firm commitment to building a better life at home and pursuing a safe and determined path toward the European Union. On this journey, Greece remains a sincere partner and a reliable friend to Moldova,ā Grosu added.
Speaker Grosu is visiting the Hellenic Parliament from June 1ā4. His agenda includes meetings with Greek parliamentary leadership and discussions with Vasileios Giogiakas, head of the GreeceāMoldova Friendship Group, and its members.
Grosu also took the opportunity to meet with members of the Moldovan community residing in Athens.
