Moldova and the USA will strengthen cooperation in cyber security field


Moldova and the United States are set to enhance cooperation in the crucial areas of information security and cyber defense. Today, Energy Minister Victor Parlicov took a significant step by signing a Memorandum of Understanding between the Energy Ministry and the U.S. Civilian Research and Development Foundation (CRDF), represented by CRDF Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia, Mykhailo Verych.

This agreement underscores the shared commitment of both nations to elevate cyber defense capabilities and bolster the implementation and development of robust information security systems. Additionally, the agreement outlines plans for enhanced collaboration in scientific and educational realms, facilitating the exchange of statistical and analytical data, and undertaking proactive measures to fortify information security awareness among residents and civil servants.

Minister Victor Parlicov emphasized the significance of this Memorandum in fostering cooperation and knowledge exchange between Moldova and the United States in the critical domain of information and cyber security. Against the backdrop of the hybrid warfare landscape, he stressed the imperative to enhance the capacities of all state institutions in data protection and cyber attack prevention.

The United States reaffirmed its staunch support for Moldova’s efforts to strengthen cyber and information security. Notably, in the latter part of last year, American experts conducted a workshop aimed at training Moldovan civil servants on information protection measures, countering misinformation, and developing public policies in the field of cyber security. This collaborative initiative underscores the shared commitment to safeguarding digital infrastructures and combating emerging cyber threats.
