Moldova and Ukraine Discuss Regional Security in Chisinau

State Secretary of the Foreign Affairs Ministry, Sergiu Mihov, met with Ukraine’s Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister, Olexandr Mischenko, during a working visit to Chisinau to discuss regional security.

According to the Foreign Affairs Ministry (MFA), the talks focused on key aspects of bilateral cooperation and collaboration in international organizations, including the United Nations and GUAM (Organization for Democracy and Economic Development). The officials also addressed recent regional security developments and other topics of mutual interest.

Sergiu Mihov reaffirmed Moldova’s strong support for Ukraine’s sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders.

The Moldovan official also reiterated Moldova’s commitment to standing with the Ukrainian people against Russia’s aggression and emphasized the shared determination to advance together on European integration, upholding common democratic values.

On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, escalating the conflict that began in 2014. The invasion, the largest military conflict in Europe since World War II, has resulted in hundreds of thousands of military and civilian casualties in Ukraine.
